The BLM deals with mining and national parks, among other things. There's not a lot of information here, but they do have some federal land records and legislation that deals with public lands.

An Internet resource for weather and environmental information in Canada. Green Lane TM helps connect Canadians, exchange information and share knowledge for environmental decision-making (Canada's EPA).

The EPA has a ton of great information dealing with the environment, but it's a frustrating site to use. I generally start by using the search box on the front page, or going to the A-Z index linked from the upper right corner.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information. It helps developing countries and countries in transition modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices and ensure good nutrition for all.

The FAO forestry division is a good beginning resource to research international forestry, particularly in developing countries. Includes forest resources, management, production and services, assessment and monitoring, people and forests, sector analysis, institutions, and interdisciplinary issues.

The National Council for Science and the Environment is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the scientific basis for environmental decision making.

NOAA is an agency that enriches life through science. Our reach goes from the surface of the sun to the depths of the ocean floor as we work to keep citizens informed of the changing environment around them. From fisheries, coasts, oceans, and climate, NOAA covers it all.

Covers headlines in soil science, and includes the full text to many SSSA publications.

Links to the fish and wildlife and environmental offices by state. These are great for local water and environmental information.

State geological surveys are great places for local geology and topographic maps. Different states have different policies about what they make freely available.

AASHE is an organization of colleges and universities that are working to advance sustainability in higher education. AASHE membership covers everyone on campus; the Willamette Community has access to AASHE’s online resources and opportunities for networking, information sharing, collaboration, and professional development.
