AVON

There are currently two ways to access AVON. One allows you to create playlists and create video clips and the other is better for finding videos if you do not know exactly what you're looking for.

Accessing AVON

Use this link to access the Alexander Street interface for a general search of videos (https://search.alexanderstreet.com/)

  • If you know what video you are looking for, you can search for it in the Library's catalogue and click the "Online Access" link, which will take you to the Alexander Street interface for your desired video.
  • This general search link is not currently on the Library's webpage. A roundabout way to access this interface is to follow the directions from the Audio Editing section of this guide to access the Music databases from the Library's Articles/Databases page. Once you open the Alexander Street music database, click the main Alexander Street logo in the top center of the page and you will be able to search all resources.

In order to create playlists and clips in the Alexander Street interface, follow the directions available on their page:

If you are not sure what exactly you are searching for or you do not intend to create a playlist or video clips, you may want to use ProQuest to search through the videos available online. If you do want to create a playlist or clips, once you have used ProQuest to find the title you can then search for it in the Library's catalogue and click the "Online Access" link to access the Alexander Street interface.

1. To access ProQuest, navigate to the Library's webpage and click the "Articles/Database" button.

2. Select "A" and look for "Academic Videos Online"

4. Be sure to enter a search and then select "Video title -- TITLE" or "Video transcript -- FULLTEXT" if you want to narrow your search to videos.

5. You will be provided with a list of videos that contain your search terms. From this point, you can click on a video to watch it in ProQuest, or search for the video by title in the Library's catalogue if you want to access it in the Alexander Street interface to make playlists and clips.
