How to Find Online Resources and Access Library Services Remotely: Library's Physical Collections

COVID-19 Update on Library Services

For current students, faculty and staff, we hope the following guidelines and services will enhance access to the MOHL’s resources, including physical collections, while the library is closed to the general public.

Digital Collections

Digital books and periodicals remain accessible from campus and remotely. If you have difficulties please contact us at library@willamette.edu for assistance.

Interlibrary Loan & Summit
  • Requesting and borrowing of articles (digitally) is available via ILL button in the library catalog. Fulfillment may be delayed.
  • Requesting of physical items from Summit and ILL is available, but many libraries are not yet participating. Fulfillment may be delayed.
Items in the Mark O. Hatfield Physical Collection
  • Articles from the bound print periodicals – Please use the “scan on demand” button in the library catalog. We will email you the scanned article as soon as we can.
  • Books - Patrons are able to retrieve materials directly from the collection during open hours and are also able to place materials on hold for pick up at the Circulation Desk.

a. Contactless pick up will remain available for those who request it. Request your items through the catalog. Once you receive the email that the item is on the hold shelf, click on the link in that notice to request contactless pick up. We will check items out to you and send you a numerical pickup code associated with the material via email. (For privacy reasons we won’t label packages with your name). Materials will be placed on a book cart in the library vestibule for you to pick up. You will have 7-days to pick it up once you receive the email. Once we check it out to you, you are considered responsible for the book. You will need a valid ID to access the vestibule 24/7.

b. Remote students can request to have materials sent via USPS. If you are not in Salem, request your items through the catalog. Once you receive the email that the item is on the hold shelf, click on the link in that notice to request mail delivery. We will check it out to you and send you an email indicating the item(s) we have sent. Once we check it out to you we will consider you responsible for the book, including returning it to the library.

  • Book chapters -  Please use the "Request ILL" button in the library catalog. We will email you the scanned chapter as soon as we can.
