When used properly and ethically, AI can be very helpful in writing anything from a short poem to a full fledged thesis. While there are benefits, there are also drawbacks.

- Write your own papers. Paraphrase with your own words. Do your own work.
- If you use AI-created content, cite it. Give credit where credit is due. Protect yourself from plagiarism.
- Do not supply personal information about others or yourself. Keep personal data private, especially if it is not about you.
- Remember that AI has ingrained biases which could lead to unequal treatment of people.
- Be kind. Do not use AI generated info to harm, demean, or intimidate others.
- Consider the environmental impact that using AI has.
In higher education, the bottom line is that your instructors are far more interested in how you grow academically than what is written by AI bot. And your educational journey is far more important to yourself.
