PPLE 210: American Politics

Hatfield Library offers access to 3 databases that provide access to broad varieties of newspapers in various clusters:

• Access World News (2,200 participating newspapers in North America + 1,200 from other countries + 300 wire services + 200 broadcast news transcripts).  Allows you to focus on specific countries, or specific states within the USA or specific provinces within Canada.
• News from Gale OneFile (over 1,000 newspapers including New York Times; Christian Science Monitor and the San Francisco Chronicle) 
• Newspaper Source (includes transcripts from news programs on NPR, CBS, ABC, FOX, and CNN) 

Hatfield Library also has subscriptions to these 5 resources that provide access to just one particular newspaper at a time:

• The New York Times Historical (daily coverage from 1851 to December 31, 2020) 
• The Oregonian (daily coverage of Portland, OR from 1861 to the present) 
• Statesman Journal (daily coverage of Salem, OR from 1999 to the present) 
• Wall Street Journal (weekday coverage of business & national news of USA from 1984 to the present)
• Washington Post (daily coverage from 2014 to the present)
• U. S. West Newsstream (daily coverage of participating local newspapers in the western region of the country -- coverage dates vary for each newspaper)
