Activity - Find an article

The purpose of this activity is to learn to use at least one of the databases and practice obtaining articles.

 

  1. Try a few different databases for a topic related to this course. Ideas are listed below.
     
  2. Limit your results to FULL-TEXT and PEER-REVIEW. Keep two articles open in a new tab.
     
  3. Try to find one article we DON'T have (unselect FULL-TEXT) and request it through ILL.
     
  4. You should have at least three articles open.
  • Extreme temperatures: Both high heat and severe cold can stress the body.

  • Dehydration: Lack of sufficient water intake.

  • Lack of sleep: Poor or insufficient sleep can affect various bodily functions.

  • Intense physical exercise: While beneficial in moderation, excessive exercise can lead to stress and injury.

  • Noise pollution: Constant exposure to loud noise can be stressful.

  • Chronic illness: Ongoing health conditions can be taxing on the body.

  • Pain: Whether acute or chronic, pain is a significant stressor.

  • Injury: Physical injuries cause immediate stress and can have long-term effects.

  • Pollution: Exposure to pollutants, including air and water pollution.

  • Poor nutrition: Inadequate or unbalanced diet can stress the body.

  • Lack of physical activity: Sedentary lifestyle can lead to various health issues.

  • Exposure to toxins: Harmful chemicals and substances can be stressful for bodily systems.

  • Poor posture: Consistently poor posture can lead to physical discomfort and stress.

  • Substance abuse: Overuse of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco can have significant physiological impacts.

  • Electromagnetic fields: Prolonged exposure to EMFs from devices.

  • Prolonged exposure to blue light at nighttime: Prolonged exposure to blue light can disrupt sleep cycles.
