ENVS 250: Geographic Information Systems

The framework data represented the most current and approved authoritative data, and served as base data for a variety of Geographic Information System (GIS) applications that support research, business and public services.

Oregon's authoritative geospatial repository. GEOHub is designed to be a one-stop hub for geospatial data and resources for the public and public bodies. It is built to organize authoritative data by Framework themes and provide users a searchable catalog to locate and access data.

Oregon's Open Data Program is a new program with executive leadership from the Chief Data Officer, and supports agencies in inventorying, prioritizing, and publishing data assets as open data.

The map and data products are searchable through the Download Application (Training Video Lessons 4a-d). Also, LidarExplorer can be used for advanced searching and visualization for lidar and digital elevation models (DEMs) data. Historical maps can also be explored in detail and downloaded via the TopoView Application (Training Video Lesson 9b and 9c). Access LANDSAT, IRS, and other imagery that spans the globe, as well as DEMs, LIDAR, Land Use and Land Cover, and topographic maps.

Free vector and raster map data at 1:10m, 1:50m, and 1:110m scales. Designed for creating high-quality maps.

Boundaries for legal and administrative divisions and subdivisions for all countries. Requires software download to access the data.

All features that appear in this crowdsourced map can be downloaded in bulk from Geofabrik. For more targeted extracts, add the QuickOSM plugin for QGIS, or download and add the OSMquery toolbox for ArcGIS.

Detailed administrative, legal, and statistical boundaries as well as the features used for delineating them (water bodies, roads, landmarks). Features represent precise boundaries.

These files are generalizations of the TIGER files that are appropriate for mapping at different scales. Coastal water has been removed from the feature boundaries, and edges have been simplified to varying degrees (see examples above).

Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data provides national layers for infrastructure: schools, hospitals, utilities, transportation, and more.
