ethnobotany, ethnomycology, ethnozoology, ethnoecology (including ethnopedology), ethnometereology/ethnoclimatology, ethnoastronomy, ethnopharmacy, ethnomedicine, ethnoveterinary, traditional medicines, traditional healthcare in households and domestic arenas, migrant healthcare/urban ethnobiology, pluralistic healthcare in developing countries, evidence-based community health, visual ethnobiology and ethnomedicine, gender studies and ethnobiology, as well as other related areas in environmental, nutritional, medical and visual anthropology

Includes perspectives of cultural practitioners, poets and others with insights into plants, people and applied research. Photo essays, methodology reviews education studies and theoretical discussions are also published. The journal publishes original research that is described in indigenous languages.

Includes people's use of plants, fungi, animals, microorganisms and minerals and their biological and pharmacological effects based on the principles established through international conventions.
