Interlibrary loan is a service that enables a user of one library to borrow books or receive copies of documents that are owned by another library. Users make requests through their home library which then forwards those requests to libraries across the country with the material. If available, the material is then shipped to the home library for the patron. It then checks out like any other library material.
Other items such as book chapters, articles, audio recordings, video recordings, sheet music, and microform can be requested through interlibrary loan.
