Since 1965, Wolf Biermann was not only banned from performing and publishing in the GDR, but also from traveling - both to the East and to the West. In 1976, Wolf Biermann was surprisingly allowed to leave the country for a tour in West Germany. In Cologne, on November 13, 1976, after a twelve-year ban on performing, he gives his first concert in front of eight thousand people.
At the time, no one realised that the departure had only been approved in order to expatriate Biermann.(Youtube Video)
