The CDC's website provides tons of information on epidemiology, including data and statistics on diseases, outbreaks, and risk factors--its focus is on the U.S. It also offers guidelines and best practices for preventing and controlling infectious diseases.

"NIMHD’s mission is to lead scientific research to improve minority health and reduce health disparities."

"The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives."

The WHO's website is a great source of information on epidemiology and public health--WHO's focus is on global health issues and disease outbreaks.

ACE "is the professional organization dedicated to continued education and advocacy for epidemiologists in their efforts to promote good science and the public health."

APHA mission is to "improve the health of the public and achieve equity in health status."

The ISEE's mission is "to foster epidemiological studies on the effects of environmental exposures in people, stimulate communication between health professionals, promote methodological advances, and strengthen environmental health policy."

"BRFSS is the nation’s premier system of health-related telephone surveys that collect state data about U.S. residents regarding their health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and use of preventive services."

GHO is the World Health Organization's portal providing access to data and analyses for monitoring the global health situation. As it says on the homepage, "explore a world of health data."

A part of the CDC, the National Center for Health Statistics is the nation's principal governmental agency for health statistics.

"NHANES is a program of studies designed to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States. The survey is unique in that it combines interviews and physical examinations."

"NVSS provides the most complete data on births and deaths in the United States."

The Oregon Health Authority's Public Health Division (PHD) has a helpful "Data and Statistics" section. PHD "collects and analyzes data on health behaviors, diseases and injuries, disseminates findings, and designs and promotes evidence-based programs and policies to improve the health and safety of all Oregonians."

"The MHL is a digital curation collaborative among some of the world’s leading medical libraries." The collection includes digitized rare medical books, pamphlets, journals, and films; it offers materials representing the past six centuries.
