"When you are looking for information...
Turn to a librarian first,
And it will be the last place that you go to!"

Gary Klein has been the Management & Economics Librarian at Willamette University since 1995.  His business experience started with several part time banking jobs while he was an undergraduate student in Buffalo NY.  He then moved up the corporate ladder of a regional bank to become the director of research as it expanded nationwide.  After major disruptions within the banking industry, Gary changed gears by entering graduate school to become a reference librarian specializing in business & the social sciences. He is the liaison or subject librarian for the following areas:

Atkinson Graduate School of Management
 (AGSM in Portland & Salem)
Economics Psychology
Business (undergraduate courses) Education Rhetoric
Civic Communication and Media (CCM) International Studies Statistics
Data Science Politics, Policy, Law and Ethics (PPLE)

Education:

- Masters of Information and Library Science : University of Buffalo (NY).
- Bachelor of Arts: Computer Science : University of Buffalo (NY).
- Certificate of Banking : American Institute of Banking - Western NY Chapter.
- Continuing Education : University of Toledo (OH).
- Continuing Education : University of Buffalo (NY).

Professional Interests:

- Book reviews & website reviews in the fields of business, economics, financial literacy, gender studies and social forces.
- Exploring unique features & help screens of keyword search engines.
- Historiographical research of LGBTQIA books & subject headings.

Non-academic interests:

After giving up 3-piece pinstripe suits that he acquired during his banking career, Gary has been expanding his collection of suspenders as his personal fashion statement regarding "dressing for success".  In his free time, Gary listens to local public radio stations, while his television viewing centers on criminal investigations & courtroom dramas.  Food wise, he enjoys cooking from scratch, particularly if he is invited to a potluck dinner.  Gary grew up in a family that emphasized volunteerism with nonprofits and community groups as well as civic engagement with legislative systems.  Lately, he has channeled those interests by spending time with a cooperative electric utility, a religious congregation, and an LGBTQIA organization.
