New Catalog Interface: Main

Basic Questions about the New Interface

When was the new version launched?

  • Monday, July 24, 2017.

Why is a new version being implemented?

  • WU Libraries, in accordance with our participation in the Orbis Cascade Alliance (Pacific Northwest consortium of academic libraries), are making a mandated upgrade to the new version of the catalog.
  • The new version has many great new features - see next column to the right.

What will happen to eShelf records and saved searches?

  • eShelf records (now "My Favorites") will transfer seamlessly into the new version. Saved searches, unfortunately, will not transfer.

Will the launch of the new version change the status of any items on loan?

  • No, all original due dates will remain the same.

Can I still access the older new version of the catalog?

  • We’ll have the classic version around for a little while so you can get your saved searches if needed.

Who should I contact with questions about the new version?

Key Features of the New Interface

Mobile Device Navigation

  • The new version has been enhanced with smoother navigation on smaller screen mobile devices.

Search Limiters and Expanders

  • With less clicks, users can include and/or exclude various types of sources from search results lists.

Searching Not Working

  • Since our search box uses javascript to conduct the search, you will need to clear your browser's history the first time you search from the library web page.

Browsing Results Lists

  • Instead of needing to click through pages of results, you can scroll more quickly to see desired groups of results.

Icon Familiarity

  • Icons better match common online usage.  For example, the new interface uses a quotation mark icon for source citation information and an envelope icon for emailing a record.
